Client Information

The people we train include; Registered Nurses, Support Workers, Healthcare assistants, and social workers.

Our Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) training is accredited by the General Services Association (GSA). It is designed to equip your staff with the necessary skills to understand the importance of knowing service users’ needs and meeting those needs to promote quality of life.

We train your staff on Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to understand the meaning behind the presenting challenging behaviors. We also cover de-escalation, break-away, and disengagement skills. We strongly advocate meeting the service users’ needs to avoid the need to use restrictive practices.

Your staff will be trained on how to use restrictive practices appropriately, legally, and competently in accordance with your service users. Training may include de-escalation whilst held standing, seated, and/or the floor (supine). Safety pods (safe bean bags) are advocated over floor restraints. Staff may also be trained how to hold someone while having prescribed treatment/medication and also leaving a person in a lockable room most known as seclusion. Our training meets The NHS standards in conflict resolution and physical intervention.

Service User Guide

People who work here are trained to support you with mental health needs. Hopefully, this will improve the quality of your life. Sometimes issues may arise that make it difficult to support you. Staff are trained to respect your human rights whilst encouraging you to receive safe care. Most people supported do not need to be restricted at all, and this is desired for you. If really necessary with no other way, this is done within the law and with dignity. Staff are trained the following when force is necessary:

  • Physical Restraint: When staff use their hands to stop your movements.
  • Seclusion: You may be left in a room where staff care for you from outside the room.
  • Rapid tranquilization: You may be held to have a prescribed injection to calm you down.
  • Safety pod: This is a large bag that can be used if available instead of floor or unsafe seats.

When force is used on you, it must be written down to work with you on how to reduce it in the future. You can complain to a senior member of staff or people paying for your treatment. You can also tell staff what works well for you.
